The Food History Project will host an informative discussion with Herb Filipponi, owner of Filipponi Ranch Cellars. Herb, the son of a Swiss-Italian immigrant, will share the history of the family-operated dairy in San Luis Obispo in 1938. The dairy was located just a quarter mile from the narrow gauge, Pacific Coast Railway that carried products from San Luis to Harford Pier in Avila Beach.
Herb will share his insights into the family dairy business and touch on what industry changes caused the small dairies to disappear. Guests will be treated to delicious traditional Swiss-Italian foods and a glass of Filipponi Ranch wine. The event will be hosted at the Filipponi Ranch Tasting Room. 1850 Calle Joaquin, SLO on Monday, March 11th at 5:30pm. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to: karen@winehistoryproject.org. A $10 contribution to help with costs is appreciated.
