Earlier this week, some members of the Orange Society came to the Eberle Winery to present us with five double gold awards. They said it was the first time they could remember ever presenting five double golds to one winery. Especially when we had only entered ten wines in the competition.
In my opinion, this competition is one of the best-judged competitions. All judges are winemakers, and I can attest to the fact that winemakers look for flaws first. Force of habit. I am sure this competition is the largest judging of California wines. Only California wines are judged. To win a double gold, all the judges have to give the wine a gold. It is then elevated to double gold.
I am so proud of our winemaker, Chris Eberle. I believe he is one of the best winemakers in the state! But then, I am biased. However, if you look at the awards he wins every year, it’s easy to make that claim. Come and taste our wines and see if you don’t agree.
