“This beautiful poem was inspired and dedicated to one of the best farmers I will ever know in May 1993 by T.J. de Jony.”

A new vine

is like a newborn baby.

Taught

and nourished

everyday

to grow strong and healthy

so it can reach its peak in life

to give back

as it has received.

As a person is often misjudged

so is a vine.

To some

it may be considered simple,

but,

to those who appreciate it

it produces and gives forth

one of the greatest foods of all time.

Wine.

A substance,

a holy substance,

a liquid to be cherished

not only for its power

but for its overwhelming grace.

A substance neither good or bad

but only when used for good

can the goodness of God prevail.

For there is no greater substance on earth

as wine.

A few thousand years ago,

considered the drink of angels.

A substance so holy

that it was chosen to represent

the blood of God’s most cherished creation,

His son.

So holy.

So divine,

that it became

the drink of the altar at the celebration of the Lord.

This drink,

cherished and respected by all good men

comes from the creator of equal justice and tranquility,

“The Vine”.

From forth such a plant

comes this drink,

this plant,

this simple vine,

whose only purpose

in this complicated world

is to bring forth

one of the most simple,

yet most respected pleasures

of God.

Vines,

the truly magnificent

yet simple structure of God.

Given only to the best of farmers

to raise

and nurture

as if they were one of his children.

For God

and God alone

knew this,

and entrusted His wonderful creations

to these special people.
