Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860 – 1941) is one of the most famous celebrities in San Luis Obispo County wine and music history. He is most famous as a polish composer and musician who performed throughout the world. He toured in the United States from Los Angeles to San Francisco to New York and all the communities in between with sizeable Polish populations. He continually raised funds for the Polish people. He became the worldwide ambassador for Polish Independence. In 1919, he was appointed the first Prime Minister when Poland became independent; he signed the Treaty of Versailles which ended World War 1. He also visited Paso Robles’s healing hot springs to improve his health. He purchased two ranches in the Adelaida region, west of Paso Robles.
